🎵 Dive into the rhythmic waves of history with a unique rap song, exploring the evolution of Microsoft SQL Server over the last three decades! From its humble beginnings to becoming a cornerstone of database management, I’m taking you on a lyrical journey through the milestones and breakthroughs of SQL Server.

SQL Server 2022 song!

1/18/2023

Wow! Wow and double wow! I had the opportunity to collaborate with Microsoft while creating a song about SQL Server 2022. I was contacted by Redgate's Annabel in July 2022, who arranged a meeting with Microsoft's architects and developers. They provided me with information on the new features of SQL Server 2022, which aided me in writing the lyrics. I was able to complete the song in time to perform it at the PASS Data Community Summit 2022. The code name for SQL Server 2022 is 'Dallas', named by Bob Ward, the Principal Architect, who hails from Texas. The song also features elements of the theme song from the 1970s TV series Dallas. Please take a listen and let me know your thoughts by subscribing and commenting.

So... I created a song around the Microsoft Teams default ring tone.  I posted the song on my Soundcloud account and within 2 weeks or so, I got a DM from Microsoft.  I was interviewed by Stephen Rose who currently hosts a podcast/webcast called "Inside Microsoft teams."  During our interview, Stephen announced that they would start using my MS Teams song as the opener for their new season of the podcast.  Check out the song and let me know what you think!

PASS - Diversity, Equality & Inclusion Within Data Community and Outside World

I was asked by the PASS coordinators to participate in a Diversity and Inclusion forum back in 2020 with a panel that consisted of an amazing group.  Diversity and inclusion (D&I) is more than policies, programs, or headcounts. Equitable employers outpace their competitors by respecting the unique needs, perspectives and potential of all their team members. As a result, diverse and inclusive workplaces earn deeper trust and more commitment from their employees.

Ok ok ok!  I have a cousin named Mark McEwen.  Mark's Dad and my Grandfather were brothers.  I have always looked up to Mark and have admired his career since I was a little kid.  Mark has accomplished a lot in Television and even has a Wiki page.
Mark now hosts his own show on the BNC.  I was honored and thrilled when he called me to interview me about my music!  His show is titled "All Things Men" and it shows the positive side of black men doing great things.  Here is the interview:

This is an article that featured current students enrolled at the Georgia Institute of Technology.  Yes... KillaDBA is in grad school.... this is why I have not been as active lately.  I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel!  Only 3 more classes to go... Whew!  This has been a journey, however, I have managed to create several IT related songs and I plan to release them soon.  I'm looking forward to writing more songs for different organizations and also performing the songs... once Covid-19 has subsided :-P.  Please click on my image below to see and read the article.  Thanks!
